Back to the Blog
So its been a month or so, and I am sorry... I hate how school, and work, and sorority, and everything has taken over my life so much so, that I haven't been able to blog since August 31! That is a joke. Well, I have been having a lot of fun... and I don't regret a minute of it, just wish the boring things (i.e. responsibility, homework, meetings, Latin, work, etc.) would go away!!!! But I know they can't... So I am learning to live with it, and I am going to try harder to blog more often... Promise...
Right now, I am avoiding endless homework, tests and (haha... yeah, you guessed it...) Latin. That is why I am back... I am sick of stupid Facebook, and I realized I had been neglecting someone... my poor blog...
The last few months have been AMAZING... Crazy and insane, but a continuation of summer none the less... I have seen some great live music, Matisyahu, John Mayer, and Rusko just to name a few... made some AMAZING FRIENDS, and yes I am still struggling with insomnia... :)
Well It is 2am and I have class in the morning, but it feels good to be back!!!
I will blog tomorrow... I promise!!!

Ok Summer... Where did you go?
So I blinked.
That is always a mistake when it comes to summer, or winter break, or spring break, or any time off. Because all of the sudden, its over before you realized that it started. I just don't understand where the time went. I have been having such a great time this summer, doing my own thing in this AMAZING city, June, July and most of August came and went without even stopping to chat.
I feel like last summer lasted forever, I had to wait for my Spain trip, which was NOT easy, June lasted a lifetime. My time in Spain, though it flew, was life changing, and then August was mellow while I waited for school to start.
This year, 2010 had another thing coming for me. Between work and friends and trying to find time to fight my insomnia, I forgot, time flies when you are having fun....
I know I have said this a hundred times and I will say it a thousand times more. San Francisco is the most AMAZING city in the world.
Summer 2010 rocked even though it flew by!

Living Minimally
It is so easy to forget how very little we need to survive on. When money is tight, you stress and try to find ways to live the same way you did, but that just isn't possible. In the case that you don't budget properly, you have to be able to live on what you have and entertain yourself.
Now this is not the Brunette saying that she is in said position, but if I was, this is how I would live... :)
Rule #1 - Pack a Lunch
It is stupid to go to work and pay $11 for food that you don't have time to enjoy and then it just has to go to waste. It is stupid. So make food at home, food that you will enjoy just as much. (But if your cabnets are looking empty, improvise... lots of snacks.)
Rule #2 - Don't Even Go There
Don't do things that cost money, or go places where you know you are going to spend money that you don't have. Duh!
Rule #3 - Hydrate
This one is simple. DRINK WATER!!! It's free and Oh So Good for you!!!
Rule #4 - Great Things in Life are Free
Find free things, and utilize them. Free Slurpee's at 7/11... Ummm... Yes please!
Rule #5 - It's Mighty Chilly in There
Look in the freezer, there is food in there that you can eat, there always is!!! I swear it is like the life saver when things are going a little rough! haha
See... 5 simple rules for living minimally.
Stressing about things like money and not having enough is part of life. Everyone struggles with money and it is better to figure it out now before I have a family and people who count on me being very responsible.
Until things balance out, it is important to remember, that you can live on very, very little.

A Personal Day
Yesterday was the first day, in a long time, in which I had absolutely no plans to do anything, so I took the opportunity to take a personal day. I took a bath with peppermint oil, and read a book. It was so nice, I haven't taken a bath in forever, always rushing in and out of the shower. I stayed in the bath until the water was just room temperature.
After my bath, Marty came over and we caught each other up on what had been going on in our respective lives. A few hours and he went to visit his dad, while I stayed in my quiet apartment.
Then, I curled up on the couch with a big blanket and HBO onDemand. Caught up on my True Blood and then watched some interesting shows about Aliens on earth. The good stuff...
I forget how important personal days are. I need to remember to take them more often.

Almost Perfect Picnic
The only way to have a perfect day, is to spend that day with perfect people, doing perfect things. Best friends, delicious food, great conversation, funny jokes, etc, these are the ingredients to a perfect day.
And of course I love having these perfect days.
Yesterday, the one and only, Taylor Houston, joined me in the city for some girl time in the sun. We went to Guerra's Meats an picked up some heavenly Prosciutto and some lovely Salami, we paired the meat with Spanish Manchego and fresh raspberries and blackberries. Before enjoying our mouthwatering lunch, Taylor and I ran to Haight to pick up a few things, and then decided on Hippie Hill to settle down for a snack.
This is where I made my mistake.
I always seem to forget that when you go to Hippie Hill, YOU ARE ALWAYS THE ONLY NORMAL PERSON THERE!!!! haha...
So what started as a simple lunch, with the occasional homeless gentleman asking for smokes, turned into serious HUSTLER drama. Lots of yelling between to various hustlers, who seemed to be related. This obviously was the glitch in our perfect day! Taylor and I decided that the situation was beyond the point of returning, and we retreated to my apartment to finish our yummy lunch.
Even if our Perfect Picnic was ruined by a couple of thugs, we still enjoyed an otherwise perfect day.
Later, we caught up with old friends, where else, but on my roof, and then laughed through 4 episodes of East Bound and Down.
Always a good time on T-Street and 21st.

It's Girl Power!!!
If there was ever a city that embraced the power of the individual, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion, it was San Francisco. This city celebrates each person for who they are, and there might even be a festival, or parade in celebration of YOU!
This last weekend, San Francisco celebrated Gay Pride, in a big way. What felt like everyone in this fabulous city rushed to the Castro to get in on the fun. This weekend, I realized possibly for the one thousandth time, that this city, is the city of love! And I am in LOVE with this city!!
My best friends were here to celebrate it with me. It was Whitney's last weekend here in SF before she officially moved back to SoCal. Lauren and Jenny came up Friday morning, and I have missed them so much. The three of us somehow ended up in the Haight. And then Taylor came up Saturday and the real Pride party began! Running through the streets of San Francisco with the girls I love the most, it was AMAZING!!! There is something to be said about having a girls night where you laugh until you cry. It is an entirly different thing to have a girls night with 30,000 other people around you! Either way it was FANTASTIC!!!!
Now, Lauren and Jenny and Taylor and Whitney are gone, but my love for San Francisco is still growing. Me and Kate are going to make sure that we love this city enough for all of them while they are away!
The winds are a changin' in these here parts of the Sunset... I can feel something new brewing just out at the beach and it is coming my way, and I am so excited!!! What ever San Francisco has to dish out, I am ready to take on!!

My City by the Bay
No matter how many times I do it. No matter how long I live here. Every time I cross that beautiful Golden Gate Bridge and enter back into this beautiful city by the bay, I feel euphoric. Even if I was gone for less than 24 hours, I can't help but smile at the sight of the Sunset Fog.
I have fallen madly in love with this city. Just knowing that I am here makes me happy. I could spend the rest of my life with this city, and that is love.
I want to scream from the top of Twin Peaks "I LOVE SAN FRANCISCO!!!!"
There is a little something for everyone in San Francisco... Every district has its own flavor...
Every time I leave the city, my heart stays right here, the the beautiful, (but foggy) Sunset!

And the beat goes on.
Twenty years ago today, two beautiful twin girls were born. A decade later, and a decade ago, on their 10th birthday, Teagan and Kira (the twins), myself and some of our other friends splashed in a pool and ate cake to celebrate their double digits.
Now, the year is 2010 and I turned twenty back in January, which was weird enough in itself, but now, these girls who I have known for A DECADE are turning twenty. I was at their 10th birthday party... how did this happen? I am sooo confused about where the time went.
Today is just one of those days that makes you realize that you can't hold on to the present. It becomes the past so quickly, you often don't even notice that it is gone until a decade has gone by. I am sitting here, thinking about all the memories that have been made in the last ten years. The twins and I have gone from being little girls, to being independent, strong, intelligent women.
On my 10th birthday, Teagan and Kira came with me to the city to celebrate, and today we are celebrating their twentieth in the same city. And a decade from now, who knows where we will be, but the memories of the last decade will stay with me FOREVER!!!
"And I ask myself about the present: how wide was it, how deep was it, and how much was mine to keep." -Kurt Vonnegut
And the beat goes on.
Happy Birthday Teagan and Kira! You ladies are amazing and I love you both!!! Looking forward to the next ten years!!!

Hello Bloomingdale's...
So yesterday, I was early for work and I took a quick detour through the home decor department in the Westfield Bloomingdale's and the New York Housewife in me nearly died. The most beautiful china flatware and stunning crystal champagne flutes. Colorful vases were lit from beneath, beckoning me to look at one of the price tags. It was an incredible, amber vase depicting the Bacchantes of Ancient Greece.
5,940 dollars. For a vase. My dreams of a 5th Ave, Pent House apartment went flying out the door. I would never pay that much for a piece of glass that serves no purpose. Beautiful yes, but unnecessarily extravagant if you ask me.
Although it would make an excellent addition to glass collection. Kidding, obviously.
I continued through the department, still in shock over the price of the vase and I got to thinking. I could drop out of school right now and move to New York. I could find myself a nice, rich man who will take good care of me and let me open a tab at Bloomingdale's and Saks. I could live in Manhattan, and be Home-Maker for a fine New York Lawyer.
Again, Kidding.
I could never settle for that lifestyle. Don't get me wrong I love to be pampered once in a while, but I would go crazy without my independence. I need to know that I worked hard to deserve the amber Bacchantes Vase, and once I have the money to afford it, I know that there will be something else that I would rather spend my money on. Like a trip to Greece, maybe?
Anyways... I don't think I will be buying anything in the Bloomingdale's Home Decor department for atleast a few more years.

Here's to you!
This blog entry is dedicated to the four beautiful women who have taught me so much about life, love, sex and the city.
Miranda Hobbes, Charlotte York, Samantha Jones, and of course, the expert herself, Carrie Bradshaw. Ladies, Here's to you!!!

Sure, they may just be TV show characters to some people, but for me and my friends, these women have been not only provided endless hours of laughter and tears, but they have been teachers in a sense.
The things that Carrie and her three best friends have taught me:
1. I have learned that it is never smart to move to Paris with one man when you are in love with another.
2. I have been exposed to the importance of Minolos.
3. Men who have two first names are HOT!!! Oh Smith Jared you are one sexy thing!!!
4. Mr. Right is out there... you just have to look for him... and look for him... and look for him... :)
5. Tuchus Lingus need not be reciprocated... haha
6. What ever the city, New York or San Francisco, home is home.
7. Two closets are better than one.
8. When in doubt, drink a Cosmo.
9. Most men will, inevitably, let you down.
10. And.. your best friends will, inevitably be there to pick you up.
And the list goes on... Maybe I am giving these characters too much credit... but I have become the strong, smart, outgoing, woman that I am with the help of these women...
So I must give credit where credit is due!! Lovely ladies of Sex and the City... Here's to you!!!!

TrueBlood
So I have this new obsession.
Bill, Sookie, Jason, Tara, Sam, Eric... and all of the other crazy characters in True Blood. It is addicting, and thanks to OnDemand and hours of nothing to do on my days off this summer, I have been feeding my addiction.
And I never jumped on the Twilight train.
I am already almost done with the second season and every single episode has left me dying for more. I have laughed and I have cried, and I have completely fallen in love series.
Bill Compton, Vampire or not, is one sexy thing.
Anyways... I am obsessed.. Back to Bon Temp!!!

The Musical Constant
I have taken for granted the musical influence that this man has had on my life... from the Slim Shady LP to his newest verses. Marshall Mathers, you have been my musical constant.
So I obviously have a huge respect for Eminem as a rapper. But this new track, (along with the beauty of all of his lyrics) has elevated him beyond a simple hip-hop artist. Eminem is a Poet. His music has always touched me. I have always felt a need to reach out to people like him, but I have learned that you cannot fix people... they have to do it for themselves.. and with Eminem.. I wanted to help him with his problems, but he was completely unattainable. And thank Gravity... I could have torn myself apart with all of his problems...
Anyways....
To my lyrical hero, Mr. Slim Shady, Marshall Mathers, Eminem... would a rose by any other name smell as sweet???
No... but it still sounds like music to my ears... thank you for writing what you feel even when it is terrifying. You never fail to blow my mind!!!

Gratitude Lists
Something that I have always thought was an AMAZING idea was keeping gratitude lists. Just a little list for me to record the things I am thankful for everyday. I have been trying to keep up with it, but in the day to day, it is something that often gets lost. So this is the first official gratitude list being published by the Brunette.
I am going to try and do this at least once a week, so I can look back on the things that have made me happy.
So here goes...
I am thankful for...
1. My parents letting me have a car for the last month and a half. (Even if I no longer get to drive it)
2. The days of sunshine that we do get in this wonderful city.
3. What I think was a successful interview today with New York Collection.
4. John Mayer.
5. All my clean laundry.
6. Taylor Houston.
7. My warm bed, sooo cozy!!
8. Muni.
9. All my BRB Ladies
10. The cup of ice water I am about to drink.
And look how easy that was. I now know of 10 things that I am thankful for at this very moment. Feels good.

How I dress my Dreads
Since ancient times, women have obsessed over how to make their hair look beautiful, healthy and strong. The Ancient Egyptian women kept their hair long and natural, even when the hot desert sun was beating down on their scalps. The geisha women of Japan would wash their hair only once every two or three weeks. A slave to her beauty, a geisha woman would sleep on a wooden neck pedestal rather than a pillow, for fear that sleeping on a pillow ruin their intricate hair styles.
Even today, we are constantly blasted with images of Perfect Hair. But all the commercials and products are sending the wrong message to the young women of this world. When it comes to your dreads more is not necessarily good.
In the last few months, thanks to two of my favorite Blondies, (and you know who you are), and a bit of my own exploration, I have begun working on perfecting the beauty, health and strength of my brunette locks.
*The Secret*
The key to long, beautiful, healthy, strong hair is minimalism. In five simple steps...
Step One - Don't wash your hair everyday
When we wash our hair everyday, it drys our hair out. Dry hair is not shiny, and tends to break. Who wants that?
Step Two - When I do wash, don't wash I hair, I wash my scalp.
The thing with shampoo and conditioner is that one removes oils and the other moisturizes. Shampoo is good for your scalp, because it washes away the oil which weighs your hair down and makes it look flat. Your hair is what craves moisture. Keep the conditioner away from the roots of your hair, focusing on mainly the tips, and then split ends will be less common. Makes sense right? You can buy some dry shampoo for the days in between when your roots might get a little oily.
Step Three - Invest in Organic Product
Sure, Pantene Pro-V may make your hair shine like California sun, but that is because it contains wax and plastics. Who cares though if your hair looks good? Well, both plastic and wax contribute to breakage and split ends. So go to Trader Joes and buy one of their Organic shampoo/conditioner combos for $3.50 a bottle. More money to spend on shoes or shows or whatever your head of beautiful, healthy, strong, organic hair wants you to do!
Step Four - Stay Away From Heat and Styling Product
Put down the blow dryer! Unplug the curling iron! And don't even think about turning on that straightener! Honestly, letting your hair dry naturally will give it natural body, which is sexier than anything a blow dryer could give you! And styling product just makes your hair stiff, or oily, or sticky, etc. So unless I have a very specific style for a special occasion, I keep the hair electronics and products under the sink.
Step Five - Don't Brush your Hair
Unless you are working through real dreadlocks, keep the brush away from your beautiful tresses. Use your fingers to work through knots gently, but over brushing your hair with thin your hair out. Just don't do it. I don't think I have brushed through my hair with an actually brush in almost three weeks.
Obviously, I am not a hair stylist and I haven't been to beauty school, but I am just saying what has worked for me. My hair is looks so much healthier now that I don't blow dry it, or run the straightener through it daily.
Hope my hair quest can help someone on theirs!

And it has only been two weeks...
Summer is in full swing. I have been loving every second of every day. Even if the weather wasn't nice, I was feeling great. I spent my first week of summer cruising around with some foxy friends and some BRBs. Then, Whitney, Kate and I packed up and drove 12 HOURS!!!!
We decided to go visit Kate's cousin Andy, who goes to Oregon State. And it took us 12 HOURS to get there. There is also an AGD house at OSU and so we got to hang out with some of the AlphaGams from Corvaliss. This tiny little college town was sooo funny. Adorable, and a complete shit show at the same time. Gotta love college town. It's party all the time. Did I mention it took us 12 HOURS to get there? Anyways I had the an amazing time in Oregon. Everything is sooo green and beautiful. WE spent a day in Portland and that is a fun city.
We left Oregon at 9:15am on Monday morning, and sure enough we did not arrive home in SF until around 9:20pm. 12 HOURS!!!! But the 12 hours there and the 12 hours back was 24 hours of laughter, and divas, and Sexy John Mayer, and endless inside jokes, and stopping a 1,000 times to pee. And all of it was sooo much fun!!! They say half the trip is getting there, but in our case it was only a third of the trip. haha
Anyways the last week has been soo relaxing. I have been missing Taylor like crazy because she is in Turkey and she gets back in like 3 days and I can't wait to see her!!!
I will post again soon!!!

Thinking about Blogging.
So I am sitting on my bed... listening to a bunch of random music that I downloaded, ad thoroughly enjoying the new sound. I was thinking about how I haven't blogged for a while and i realized I might as well UPDATE things. So plans are changing... yet again. I am gonna go to Spain in the Spring and spend a semester or two learning Spanish all over again. I can't wait..
I am also going to be staying in my apartment, which i am very excited about. I just decided that moving into a new lease when I am leaving in December doesn't make any sense. So I get to enjoy the rest of my city life before I leave for Spain.
Good ole Marty is back in SF to stay for atleast a while before he has to go back to Belfast. Unfortunately, the weather from rainy Ireland fallowed him here. He is always a good time, that boy!!
Well I am gonna go get some delicious Frozen Yogurt on this freezing rainy day.. lol

A Huge Epiphany About Little Pieces
Life is about finding those little pieces of heaven. Searching the world for those tiny details that make it all worth while. We are engineered to seek the things that make our hearts beat just a little faster.
In the last year, I have found so many of these little things. I could cry thinking about how AMAZING the last year of my life has been. I am the luckiest girl in the world.
Last summer I got the amazing opportunity to go to Spain and spend 5 weeks living in the most charming town on the planet. Padilla de Duero was and always will be home. The people i met there, even though our conversations were rough through the language barrier, are my family. Salamanca left it mar on me for life, literally i got a tatto in that beautiful city. Spain is a piece of my heaven. I could go on forever about Spain, but I will save that for another blog.
After returning to the states, I spent most of the summer in my BEAUTIFUL apartment in the wonderful city of San Francisco, I have learned to appreciate every little piece of this city. I am sooo close to knowing what I want to do with the rest of my life.
I have my roof, which has become my headquarters anytime I need an escape. I can think clearly out here. Obviously, it inspired this blog.
I found the Shannon, where even 6 glasses of ice water is a great time. The company in that little bar makes me one of the happiest girls in San Francisco. I love the IRISH!!!! Whether Emmett is making me Gin and Tonics, or a cup of tea, I am as cheery as all the other Irish sitting at the bar.
I am living my life for every moment... because in the end that is what it is all about.
For my Philosophy class this semester, we discussed the idea of 'self' and 'purpose' from a religious perspective. We looked at the Christians, the Buddhists, we looked at Hinduism and even at some Philosophers ideas on the subject. On one of the last days before the final, I started this blog up on the roof. I realized that you cannot force anything, because the important things will come effortlessly.
Now, well in to Summer 2010, I know that I am on my path to discovering who I am and what it is about this world that makes me happy. This Brunette is so happy that she has this blog to record all of her discoveries.
Until my next epiphany...

Franken-Face

This it something that has really hit a nerve with me.
I understand getting a little nose job if you are self conscious about its size and shape. I am completely fine with someone adjusting the size of their boobs. I also don't think it is a big deal if someone chooses to get their ears pinned back.
What really upsets me is when a girl goes into the doctors office looking sweet, and she comes out looking like Frankenstein. Everyone has read the articles about celebrities and their surgeries, but Hiedi Montag has taken it too far. She is so young and had such an adorable body before going under the knife.
When Heidi first got her nose and breasts done it was fine, noticable, but it enhanced her look. Now, she looks like her skin has been pulled so tight, it might rip. But when she was one the cover of People saying she had 10 more procedures, and wasn't finished, I became disgusted.
Now I hear that she wants to increase her bust size again. This woman is sick! She is 26 years old and already she is filling her body with silicon! YOU CAN NEVER GET YOUR FACE BACK HEIDI!!!!! It is sooo frustrating.
What I really want to know is what doctor is performing these surgeries? It seems absurd that any realistic plastic surgeon would tell his patient that she was going to look like a monster. If I had a face like that post op, I would be sueing my doctor, not going back for more!
Anyways, I guess all i am trying to say is that everything is fine, IN MODERATION!!!

Blame Mercury...
For the last week or so, things have been off. It feels like there has been a disconnect between me and the rest of the world. Weird things from my past have been popping up and communication between me and the world, as well as my brain and my body, has been off.
Everyone could feel it. But once again, Astrology comes to the rescue.
Mercury is in RETROGRADE! But What does that mean? I didn't really know myself, so i decided to research it a little bit.
Mercury governs thoughts and perceptions. When the already slow planet slows down even more,it causes personal misunderstanding. It may be as simple as dropping a coffee cup, or as serious as midlife crisis career changes. Either way, it is important to make decisions carefully and thoughtfully during this part of the year.
Don't jump to any conclusions, and don't blame people for their mistakes, it isn't their fault.
Blame Mercury.
<3
PS
Thanks to Kate for shedding light on this funk that I was in... I thought it was just me!!! I love you sister!!!

Things are Changing
So I feel like I haven't written in forever. Maybe because I haven't! A few things have changed in my life. My career path is taking a slight turn. I was thinking about my future, and I realized I wanted to be able to travel when i am older, but there are other important things in life as well.
So I decided that maybe archaeology isn't where I need to be. No worries! I am finishing My degree in the Classics, but it is what happens afterward that is changing. I think I am going to go to Law School!!!
I know it's crazy, but works and I think I would kick ass in a court room! I owe this epiphany to none other than the wise man at the Shannon Arms... Emmett!
Anyways, so as of right now that is my plan... Can't wait!!!

Connections.
Late Night Wanderings of a Restless Mind
I think about the times in my life when I made a connection with someone, a connection that would impact my life. There are a few who come to mind, but names are not important, and dates are not important, only the connection matters, because they will stay with you forever. Whether is was a mis-connection or a past connection, a casual connection or an intimate connection, they all change us, some more than others.
It doesn't matter if my connection with you was 6 seconds ago or 6 years ago, when our paths cross again, we will know it was for a reason. I look forward to the day that our connection brings us back together. I know that everything happens for a reason, whether or not the outcome is predetermined. We were in the same place, at the same time, for a reason.
We always blame ourselves for mistakes in relationships and as humans it is natural to regret things, but the connection was genuine. If I learn something from you, even if you break my heart, I cannot regret my time with you, you taught me more about me. I can regret decisions I made about you but I cannot regret you.
Our paths may cross only once, or you might be braided throughout my life, but either way you are significant. I can't put a prince on my experience with those people; those people who, in either a constructive, or destructive manor, shuck up my world.
These little thoughts are running around in my head, along with my memories of all of you. I think I am finally ready for you to come back into my life, even if it is only for a fleeting second, I need closure. I need to say thank you.
To the ones who still wait in my future, wondering when I will step on your toes, I am ready and I welcome your challenges, I want to know what lesson you have to offer me.
Isn't it odd though? How people just simply enter and then exit your life, only to show up somewhere down the line, Shaking things up again. My mind is completely blown by the concept. Sure it is easier today with Facebook and cell phones and iChat, but when someone drops in on you from the past, or what you thought was a mis-connection turns out to be real connection, you still are affected by the connection.

Case of the Mondays'
It is so hard to return to school when you spent the weekend in the sun, at the beach. Sometimes I forget how amazing the sunsets are at ocean beach and I got to see two of them this weekend. Call me the luckiest girl in the sunset...
All I want to do right now is go down to the beach and sit in the black sand and feel it on my bare feet. I would love to be at Golden Gate Park sitting in the sun that seems to be hiding behind some fog right now. But its Monday... :(
Just gotta make it through the week before yet another weekend!

My Life is Beautiful... an Dirty Rich
So the last week has been quite successful. I went to the AGD formal with Andrew Henderson, and I always have a good time with him. I tackled a few Long Island Ice Tea's with Taylor on Saturday, and then the world tackled us to the ground. Sunday was lazy, but I ended the day with a dance party in the pissing rain, and a cup of Hot cocoa. Monday was back to reality, and back to classes. Tuesday I hit up the Gym with Jessielyn, and I can see that turning into an obsession all over again, but there are worse addictions, right?
Yesterday, I hung out with the lovely Kate Hockett, Jenny Rose, and Jessielyn and I showed them the way to a Dirty Rich life style. And then it was back to the annex for study time with miss Jenny.
Night time walks through the sketchy path home from the annex nearly gave me a heart attack.
Anyways.... I gotta run... back to class.

The Way to a Lazy Wednesday....
Hit Snooze... for an hour.
One scrambled egg with a little Tapatio... In bed.
Sunshine through the spaces in the blinds... but I don't want to go outside.
Start the homework that was due an hour ago....with a cup of tea.
Over National Geographic On Demand.... and a cup of Coffee
A little bit of Dirty Rich...
A Perfect lazy day...
I love this city...
Maybe the zoo in a while?

Oh Gravity...
It has been forever since I have posted. Not because I haven't had time, or because I didn't have anything to say; but because I didn't know how to put into words what I experienced on March 26th.
John Mayer was life changing. It was the best concert I have ever been too, and I wish I could relive it again and again. Nothing could compare to my feelings of pure happiness when he opened the show with Heartbreak Warfare... It was amazing...
He played his guitar with such passion and love, I know that his music means the world to him. Haha... I know I sound obsessed but honestly, that concert changed my world a little bit. I even shed a few tears at the sound of his his fingers strumming the first few notes of Gravity.
I wish I could put into words how wonderful it was to see him live, but it is impossible.
The rest of Spring Break was great! It rained the whole time, but I spent most of my days with the girls that I love! It was a beautiful, Dirty Rich break and I wish I could have continued with the endless ritual of staying up late and sleeping in and laughing with the girls.
But now I am back to grindstone, but on the bright side, I have only 34 days until summer... and I can't wait!!!!!

The bright lights trick all of the diligent students into forgetting that it is 2am. I have been here for hours. The Annex has become like a second home for me and my Classical studies. But I guess I should thank the gods for this educational space, because Zeus knows I would never get anything done anywhere else.
The only thing keeping me going right now is the knowledge that after this Latin test there is very few hours between me and John Mayer. I am so excited.
Anyways I need to get back to the Latin grindstone.
Ciao

I've got dreams to remember you...
What started as an amazing week, ended with an AMAZING weekend.
Bella and Taylor came back to the city on friday, because Bella left her debit card in my wallet from St. Patty's day. We planned on just a quick lunch, but of course, we had to make it an adventure. I took the girls up on the roof for a little bit of scenic relaxation before lunch, and then we set sale for Squatt and Gobble.
Eventually we made it back to the car and then we thought it would be nice to go to Candybar, that little desert bar that I wrote about before, needless to say the girls LOVED IT!!!
This was when the girls made their decision, THEY ARE GOING TO MOVE TO SF!!! I love that my passion for this city is infecting others. After a quick beach photo shoot, we floated to the land of drugs and bums, Haight and Ashbury, for a little bit of mischief.
God, I love this city.
No night at TStreet and 21st would be complete without a little trip to the Shannon to visit my man Johnny, but the girls and I were soo tired, so after a few drinks, we cut
The night could not have been better. We conquered the city. Just the tree of us. I am sooo looking forward to more adventures in this amazing city with these girls!!
And ladies... Dirty Rich will ALWAYS ALWAYS do us dirty!!!!

Gotta LOVE the Irish
So I have to say that St. Patty's was slightly more than successful. The Fab Four... Ali, Bella, Taylor and myself went to Cheesecake Factory for an early dinner. We couldn't help but spike our strawberry lemonades... God I love those girls.
Then we returned to my apartment, getting into the GREEN spirit in more ways than one! Again... I love those girls. We got ready together like old times, and of course the night would not be complete with out one of us having a wardrobe meltdown... last night was Ali's turn. :) Finally, we were ready to start the real celebrating, and we left to Mallory's for a night of mixing multiple alcohols and dancing.
At around midnight we decided that St. Patty's wouldn't be complete without a little trip to the Shannon Arms... and of course the Irish were having an AMAZING time.
I could not have asked for more on one of my favorite holidays! Honestly, it was amazing to be back with my girls drinking and being merry. I love sharing my city with people, and sharing it with the people who mean most makes all the difference!!!
Ali, Bella & Taylor... I love you girls to death... I can't wait for us all to grow old together... I know that I can always count on you guys to talk shit on the rest of the population (because they are all so much less perfect than we are). I love you all... Forever... No matter what... We will always have Jose, St. Patty's, spiked Strawberry lemonades, the Shannon, Seniores, and Sex and the City... I LOVE YOU!!!!!

Nothing but Sunshine
I'm sitting under the blue sky.
Yes blue, it happens sometimes in the wonderful city, and we have been blessed with three AMAZING days in a row. It seems so wrong to go to class on a day like this, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
I just want to take a nice nap on the green grass, but I fear that I would fail to wake up for Anthro. If I could just put my academic life on hold just while the weather is beautiful, I want nothing more than to be in Golden Gate Park right now with the people I love. I don't want the rain to come back, at least not until the winter returns.
The last few days have been some of my best in San Francisco. Saturday night Jessielyn and I celebrated St. Patty's day a little early at the Shannon. The St. Patty's Day Parade, which always occurs the closest Saturday to the 17th, is really just another excuse for the Irish to get wasted before the sun goes down... GOTTA LOVE THEM!!!
Emmett blamed my 7 Gin and Tonic's, and 3 beers, but I blame all the green for my blurred vision. Either way, blurred vision and all, I found a little pot of gold in the shape of Seniore's Hot wings!! YUM!!!!
Looking forward to St. Patty's day on Wednesday... Always a grand time...

Making good on my goals.
So I swore at New Years that I was going to take full advantage of the city, and so far I have been making good on my promise to myself. Today, was yet another gorgeous day in San Francisco, YES TWO IN A ROW, and I went to the Golden Gate Bridge with some of the sisters.
It could not have been a more beautiful day. And yes yesterday was beautiful too.
I love this city.

Ocean Beach
I woke up later than I meant to, I felt like I had already wasted the day. Instead of moping around, I took a shower and caught the 'L' down to the beach. It was beautiful. The Sun was shining and there was just a light breeze, listening to music, sitting in the sand dunes.
I think it is important to spend a little bit of time by yourself every now and then. I felt so relaxed today just sitting there, taking in the smell of the ocean and the sound of the birds.
Erika joined me after a little while and we then enjoyed the nature and became one with the earth. We ended out little adventure at Java Beach for soup and salad, and then back home to the warmth.
It was another one of those days that reminds me why I love this city!

TGIF
Friday. Finally.
This week seemed to fly by, but Monday feels like forever ago.
I have been oddly busy this week, while still managing to be just ever so slightly lazy and quite connected with the GREEN world around me. I am not sure what this weekend had in store for me, but I am looking forward to all it brings.
Finally. A break from the day to day.

The Philosophy of Truth
So I am sitting here, trying to study for my Philosophy mid-term and I am trying to memorize all these so-called "truth theories." Pragmatism, Correspondence, coherence, blah, blah, blah... What the hell is truth anyways?
I have read endless definitions for these models and I still don't agree with any of these long, drawn out descriptions of what it means for something to be true. I mean honestly, I feel like there is no such thing as the truth. Why does something as simple as 'truth' need paragraphs upon paragraphs describing whether or not this simple thing is valid.
Who are we to decide what is true anyways? As humans, we over analyze everything that is placed in front of us, rather than taking things at face value. By giving truth more value than it deserves, we are also giving dishonest more value.
Philosophy just confuses me, but I am a gluten for the punishment!

Spice of Life
Everyone says that Variety is the spice of life, but when it comes to the weather, it is hard to appreciate it. When I left my apartment this morning, the sky was blue, and the sun was shining, but by the time I reached the bus stop, a dark cloud had rolled in and it had begun to pour.
It continued to rain until right after my Egyptian Culture class when, once again, the sun began to shine, teasing everyone outside. My entire Latin class I stared out the window, waiting for it to be 11 so i could go back out into the warmth of the sun, but sure enough, I opened the doors to leave the humanities building and the rain started up again.
Now I am sitting in a gloomy corner of the student center and through the skylights, I see nothing but blue sky. Typical...

Adventures on the 91
After almost 10 hours at the annex, a delirious brunette walked to the top of campus to catch the notoriously unreliable 91 Owl. I checked the schedule and it said the the 91 would be arriving in the next 5 minuets, but sure enough that didn't happen. So I waited. At 3:30 in the morning what else was I going to do?
In the next 40 minuets that I sat waiting for that damn bus, I was reacquainted with the interesting world that is pre-dawn San Francisco. In those last few hours before the sun rises, the crazies come out. And when I say crazies, I mean the clinically insane.
Two girls were sitting with two guys, talking about the millennial phenomenon, known as the Hyphy Movement. The girls were apparently from east LA and they didn't know how to "go dumb."
A man with an inverted mo-hock beard... yes, a beard shaved down the middle... tried to explain to me as to why the 91 was so unreliable. He smelled like toilet water.
Then, a prince charming showed up to rescue me from said Muni expert, and he just happened to have Tourettes and extremely dirty hands, but otherwise a good looking guy. He began talking to me about my boots, whispering inappropriate details under his breath. Maybe not so charming.
Yet another reminder not to judge a book by it's cover.
Finally, I made it to Taraval, and then was fallowed home by a man who coincidentally was also whispering dirty things under his breath. I panicked for just a few seconds, but then I realized he was drunk and I could easily our run him. Deep Breath.
At last, I slipped my key into the front door and then I was home. Finally.
There is nothing like the comfort of your bed to make you truly appreciate the beauty and wonder of the 91 at 4:30 am.

The Acoustic Version...
Nothing relaxes me like a little acoustic guitar. It reminds me of home.
Somehow, during my endless hours of sleepless studying in the last two weeks, I managed to track down a few hours of John Mayer live, and I can't get enough. I forgot how magical he is acoustically. He is one of those artists that is even more amazing live.
I wish every human had an acoustic side like John Mayer. Even more amazing in their most organic form. Wishful thoughts...

Half of my Heart
I was born in the arms of imaginary friends
Free to roam, made a home out of everywhere I've been
Then you come crashing in, like the realest thing
Trying my best to understand all that your love can bring
Oh half of my heart's got a grip on the situation
Half of my heart takes time
Half of my heart's got a right mind to tell you
That I can't keep loving you
Oh, with half of my heart
I was made to believe i'd never love somebody else
I made a plan, stay the man who can only love himself
Lonely was the song I sang, 'til the day you came
Showing me a better way and all that my love can bring
Oh half of my heart's got a grip on the situation
Half of my heart takes time
Half of my heart's got a right mind to tell you
That I can't keep loving you
Oh, with half of my heart
With half of my heart
Your faith is strong
But I can only fall short for so long
Time will hold, later on
You will hate that I never gave more to you than half of my heart
But I can't stop loving you
But I can't stop loving you
But I can't stop loving you with half of my...
Half of my heart
Half of my heart
Half of my heart's got a real good imagination
Half of my heart's got you
Half of my heart's got a right mind to tell you
That half of my heart won't do
Half of my heart is a shotgun wedding to a bride with a paper ring
And half of my heart is the part of a man who's never really loved anything

Procrastination is the name of the game...
So it is 1:12 am, and I am sitting here in the Annex, trying to get my Latin homework done, but leave it to me to find every distraction. I have gone to the drinking fountain 10 times, checked my facebook 100 times, checked my text messages 1000 times and looked around for anything else to distract me 10000 times. Maybe I am exaggerating, but I seriously can't help but distract myself with every chance I get.
I can feel my brain giving up right now, I am sleep deprived and hungry. My body can't sustain on water and motivation. I have been hitting the books all day and all night, now i need to go hit the pillow and catch some Zs...

The Candybar
Warm colors, abstract decor, the smell of cinnamon and espresso. I couldn't have asked for a better way to wind down my weekend.
Last night, I went to this little dessert lounge at Fulton and Divisidero, called "Candybar." Basically it is a little restaurant, but instead of appetizers and entree's, there is cocktails and desserts.
I went as a celebration with a few of my AGD sisters because of our good grades. It was one of the best Strive for Pi Events I have been to yet.
I got the Chocolate Butterscotch Brownies which is obviously brownies that had butterscotch chips in them. The mini brownies were accompanied by candied walnuts and and Thyme ice cream... It was delicious. (Minus my allergic reaction to the walnuts, but I knew what I was getting myself into when I ordered it, and boy was it worth it.)
I can't wait to get back to the Candybar.

Small World in This Big City..
So what was supposed to be mellow night with a few friends, turned in to an accidental night in the Shannon. Coincidentally, I ran into five guys that I went to high school with, and after catching up over Gin and Tonics... of course... I looked over my shoulder to see all the boys who always make my night at the Shannon.
Nothing is more fun than a bunch of drunk, rugby boys. In the piles of drunken boys, and pints of Guinness, I saw my friend Alli, which was obviously a shock, because she is even younger than me.
She happened to be dating one of the boys who I have met at the Shannon a dozen times!
Nights like these make you realize just how small this big city is!!!

Sleepless in San Francisco
So I have literally gotten 10 hours of sleep since Monday. Oddly enough I feel fine. I simply can't say no to a good time, so of course Monday night I was out with the girls, and Tuesday was dinner for Kristen's birthday, the Shannon and Seniore's, to catch up with a friend that I never see. Haha
Then of course I couldn't say no to Wino, I love all my wine-aholic friends WAY TOO MUCH!
Then I realized that I had less than 24 hours to prepare for my Egyptian Culture Midterm.
Lass than 24 hours to memorize nearly 8000 years of history. Sounds impossible?
Thanks to a pot of coffee, two cups of highly caffeinated tea, endless distractions and Mr. U.V.'s help I am pretty sure that aced my midterm.
Sure I finished studying at 6:30 this morning and got in the shower and then left for school, and sure I have had just barely a single nights sleep in the last week, but that is just how I roll. And thank god I can balance my time, because I don't think I could live any other way!
I am not sure when an opportunity for sleep is going to present itself, I have a social tonight and "Philanthropic Beach Clean Up" in the morning... but eventually I will find a way to catch up. Anyways, I am out for now, until next time...

The Sunshine Guideline
So, as promised, I am doing my best to write a guideline to living the best life possible in San Francisco. Possibly the MOST important guideline is taking FULL advantage of the sunny days in this AMAZING city.
Yesterday, I had tons of Latin Translations and plenty of Philosophy homework, but I decided to spend the day in the beautiful Golden Gate Park with my beautiful roommates. The Sun was shining and it was impossible to keep a smile off my face. It was a perfect day to lay out in the sun, under the trees, smoking a little green and laughing about nothing. It is those days that I will always remember.
After the sun started to go down, the grumble in our tummies led us to Japantown for some delicious sushi... and a crazy black man who we thought had a gun, but that is a different story.
After sushi, there was a little scream from our our sweet tooth. It said "Ice Cream" so we all pulled out our smart phones and found the nearest shop that could give us what we were craving.
By the time we got home, it was dark and cold, and sure enough, I woke up this morning to rain on my window, so I am thanking the San Francisco Sun gods for blessing me and my city with the day of beauty!!!
Ciao

New Laptop... New Outlook
So I FINALLY convinced my dad that it was time for me to upgrade to a Mac... THANK GOD!!! My PC was pretty much done for. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE my MacBook... It was my parents Valentines day gift to the person they love more than anything in this world, yours truly...
But I am back to conquering this city, one day at a time. I went up to Twin Peaks on sunday and it was beautiful!!! There was no fog over the city and you could see all the way to the bridge, it was amazing and kinda put me back in prospective. I just realized how lucky I am to live in this city. I decided that NOTHING is going to hold me back anymore, including childish boys who think about no one but themselves... Which brings me to the next thing I want to rant about.
I HATE more than anything, when people play games, simply because I don't play them. I am far to honest and complex to confuse myself further with games. So when someone pulls out all the stops and decides that it is necessary to give me the run around, I kinda lose my head. I refuse to let anyone affect me the way that a particular someone has in the last few weeks. Ever again! I received a "Happy Valentines day, I guess" text at 11:39pm, which screams... "I am trying to fuck with your head!" What the hell does "I guess" mean? So I called up said boy and basically told him to call me when he decided to act his age not his shoe size (which is a 10 by the way). So after an brief episode of angry tears, I put my chin up, smiled and reminded myself that it is his loss...
Anyways... Let's see if I can fallow my own rules...
Ciao for Now

An Important Guideline
So I decided it was a good idea last night (after 5 Gin and Tonics) to accept some friendly shots of tequila from a nice Irish boy at the Shannon. This is generally a bad idea on a Tuesday... Just thought I would let everyone know... Needless to say I am not at the top of my game today.
I also probably didn't learn my lesson.

Decade Number 3
So it happened... I am twenty! Last week was so much fun and all my friends made it one of the best birthdays I have ever had. Sunday night I went to the Shannon (Surprise Surprise) and hung out with all the crazy Spuds. Monday, I started school and began getting back into the swing of things academically.
Wednesday... the night before my BIG DAY I went to Mallory's for Wino Wednesday and began celebrating. At mid-night the entire house sang happy birthday to me and it was so sweet! I still cant believe that I am 20 years old, but all the more reason for me to run this town.
The birthday festivities continued all the way through the weekend, Friday night I went out to dinner with Kristen, Jessielyn and Erika at Panta Rei, (The best Italian restaurant in San Francisco) and then I was surprised by a bunch of friends back at the house, including Tashina.
I was sooooooo happy to see her, it was so cool that she drove up to San Francisco from Ventura for my birthday.
Saturday night I went to Seniore's with my mom, Erin, LeeAnn and Jessielyn. Always the fanciest of times. And then it was back to the Shannon for a birthday/wedding celebration for some of the regulars. We drank and danced and drank more until the bar was closed.
Essentially, the week was AMAZING... I wasn't okay with turning twenty, but now I know that this year is going to be one of the best I have had yet. Until Next time...

So my windows have been spattered with droplets of rain for two days, and it came down hard last night. The rain always makes me feel lazy and all I want to do is cuddle up and sleep. But I decided to not let the weather rain on my parade.
Kristen and I got out of the house, which was filled with the jaded emotions, and went to dinner. Dinner at a precious little Italian place in West Portal. OMG Gnocchi is the most delicious thing in the world. The little dumplings were cooked perfectly and the tomato sauce was so good. I could have eaten five plates of it, but of course I was so full by the end of the plate that I was completely uncomfortable.
But regardless of how full I was, dinner and the wonderful company made me forget about the lame rain outside. So I guess that it is important to be bold and get your self out of the house regardless of the weather.
Then the fire place at the Shannon Arms kept me warm as I sipped yet again on Gin and Tonics. Laughing about the loud Irish men and the bad music that the girls were playing.
So what could have been a night of sleeping around my house turned into a fun night out with my roommate and another drunk night at the Shannon...
I LOVE THIS CITY!!!

Back in the City by the Bay
Home was nice for a while, but my tiny hometown seems to have shrunk since I was there last. I have welcomed the sound of MUNI at all hours of the night, and the constant fog of my beautiful city. Thus far, 2010 has been great, I am have been running around SF for the past few days getting back in the swing of things and truly enjoying myself. One thing that I forgot about is the scumbags that live in good old San Francisco.Friday night, I was hit on by a 30 year old creepy lawyer in a hookah bar, and he refused to back off, and then a man in the Shannon Arms (which I missed dearly over the break) tried to get me to go home with him, and this guys had like 10 piercings... in his face. I get all the winners.
Gin and Tonics did me in last night. I stopped counting after 8 but I cant even check how many I had through my wallet because Mr. Bartender, Emmett, comped a few. And then, of course, it was on to Seniore's which has become it's own food group in my diet... I didn't even like pizza before that place, but no night at the Shannon Arms is complete without a trip to Seniore's.
I have been really good about making my bed everyday and keeping the apartment clean, but with one of the two other roommates being here, I know things will get messy. So tonight Kristen and I are gonna go to Union Street, which is my FAVORITE area in San Francisco and we are gonna go to my FAVORITE restaurant Betel Nut... sooo good... and then probably to the Shannon... every night.
I am gonna go get ready but I will post soon

A New Brunette for 2010
Happy New Years!! I can't believe that 2009 is gone... I seriously was freaking out a little bit when I realized that I am about to be 20. But a few days have passed and I am a bit calmer now. Thank God.
So what is in store this year for me? Well I have given up a vice, 3 days strong. I plan on making my apartment a grown up apartment. It needs to stay neat and tidy and I want to make my bed everyday. I also want to visit a new piece of San Francisco every week. I figure, I love the city so much, but there is still so much I haven't seen. Hopefully 2010 will be a year of travel for me, I am dying to get out of this country for a little while.
Last year, 2009, was a year for me to mend my broken heart and work on myself. I managed to do both. I spent the first half of the year tellng myself that everything was going to be okay, and the last half of the year telling myself that I wasted the first half of the year. I refuse to feel that way about 2010. I am so looking forward to everything that this new year has to offer, and I plan on taking it all in.
Goals for 2010
1. Acknowledge that I am happy every single day.
2. Read more... I miss reading for pleasure.
3. Stay focused in school.
4. Visit a new piece of San Francisco every week.
5. Do things that scare me.
6. Spend time out side of the US.
7. Write more... I miss writing for pleasure.
8. Burn more incense... They help me feel at peace with myself.
9. Keep my apartment clean.
10. Fall in love... (This one has to be on every single girl's goal list)
So that is hopefully a quick overview of what 2010 has to offer this Brunette. I can't wait, I am looking forward to every second of it... but for now I need to go make good on number 9... and clean my room!
Ciao for Now
