So I am sitting here, trying to study for my Philosophy mid-term and I am trying to memorize all these so-called "truth theories." Pragmatism, Correspondence, coherence, blah, blah, blah... What the hell is truth anyways?
I have read endless definitions for these models and I still don't agree with any of these long, drawn out descriptions of what it means for something to be true. I mean honestly, I feel like there is no such thing as the truth. Why does something as simple as 'truth' need paragraphs upon paragraphs describing whether or not this simple thing is valid.
Who are we to decide what is true anyways? As humans, we over analyze everything that is placed in front of us, rather than taking things at face value. By giving truth more value than it deserves, we are also giving dishonest more value.
Philosophy just confuses me, but I am a gluten for the punishment!

Spice of Life
Everyone says that Variety is the spice of life, but when it comes to the weather, it is hard to appreciate it. When I left my apartment this morning, the sky was blue, and the sun was shining, but by the time I reached the bus stop, a dark cloud had rolled in and it had begun to pour.
It continued to rain until right after my Egyptian Culture class when, once again, the sun began to shine, teasing everyone outside. My entire Latin class I stared out the window, waiting for it to be 11 so i could go back out into the warmth of the sun, but sure enough, I opened the doors to leave the humanities building and the rain started up again.
Now I am sitting in a gloomy corner of the student center and through the skylights, I see nothing but blue sky. Typical...

Adventures on the 91
After almost 10 hours at the annex, a delirious brunette walked to the top of campus to catch the notoriously unreliable 91 Owl. I checked the schedule and it said the the 91 would be arriving in the next 5 minuets, but sure enough that didn't happen. So I waited. At 3:30 in the morning what else was I going to do?
In the next 40 minuets that I sat waiting for that damn bus, I was reacquainted with the interesting world that is pre-dawn San Francisco. In those last few hours before the sun rises, the crazies come out. And when I say crazies, I mean the clinically insane.
Two girls were sitting with two guys, talking about the millennial phenomenon, known as the Hyphy Movement. The girls were apparently from east LA and they didn't know how to "go dumb."
A man with an inverted mo-hock beard... yes, a beard shaved down the middle... tried to explain to me as to why the 91 was so unreliable. He smelled like toilet water.
Then, a prince charming showed up to rescue me from said Muni expert, and he just happened to have Tourettes and extremely dirty hands, but otherwise a good looking guy. He began talking to me about my boots, whispering inappropriate details under his breath. Maybe not so charming.
Yet another reminder not to judge a book by it's cover.
Finally, I made it to Taraval, and then was fallowed home by a man who coincidentally was also whispering dirty things under his breath. I panicked for just a few seconds, but then I realized he was drunk and I could easily our run him. Deep Breath.
At last, I slipped my key into the front door and then I was home. Finally.
There is nothing like the comfort of your bed to make you truly appreciate the beauty and wonder of the 91 at 4:30 am.

The Acoustic Version...
Nothing relaxes me like a little acoustic guitar. It reminds me of home.
Somehow, during my endless hours of sleepless studying in the last two weeks, I managed to track down a few hours of John Mayer live, and I can't get enough. I forgot how magical he is acoustically. He is one of those artists that is even more amazing live.
I wish every human had an acoustic side like John Mayer. Even more amazing in their most organic form. Wishful thoughts...

Half of my Heart
I was born in the arms of imaginary friends
Free to roam, made a home out of everywhere I've been
Then you come crashing in, like the realest thing
Trying my best to understand all that your love can bring
Oh half of my heart's got a grip on the situation
Half of my heart takes time
Half of my heart's got a right mind to tell you
That I can't keep loving you
Oh, with half of my heart
I was made to believe i'd never love somebody else
I made a plan, stay the man who can only love himself
Lonely was the song I sang, 'til the day you came
Showing me a better way and all that my love can bring
Oh half of my heart's got a grip on the situation
Half of my heart takes time
Half of my heart's got a right mind to tell you
That I can't keep loving you
Oh, with half of my heart
With half of my heart
Your faith is strong
But I can only fall short for so long
Time will hold, later on
You will hate that I never gave more to you than half of my heart
But I can't stop loving you
But I can't stop loving you
But I can't stop loving you with half of my...
Half of my heart
Half of my heart
Half of my heart's got a real good imagination
Half of my heart's got you
Half of my heart's got a right mind to tell you
That half of my heart won't do
Half of my heart is a shotgun wedding to a bride with a paper ring
And half of my heart is the part of a man who's never really loved anything
Half of my heart
Half of my heart
Half of my heart
Free to roam, made a home out of everywhere I've been

Procrastination is the name of the game...
So it is 1:12 am, and I am sitting here in the Annex, trying to get my Latin homework done, but leave it to me to find every distraction. I have gone to the drinking fountain 10 times, checked my facebook 100 times, checked my text messages 1000 times and looked around for anything else to distract me 10000 times. Maybe I am exaggerating, but I seriously can't help but distract myself with every chance I get.
I can feel my brain giving up right now, I am sleep deprived and hungry. My body can't sustain on water and motivation. I have been hitting the books all day and all night, now i need to go hit the pillow and catch some Zs...

The Candybar
Warm colors, abstract decor, the smell of cinnamon and espresso. I couldn't have asked for a better way to wind down my weekend.
Last night, I went to this little dessert lounge at Fulton and Divisidero, called "Candybar." Basically it is a little restaurant, but instead of appetizers and entree's, there is cocktails and desserts.
I went as a celebration with a few of my AGD sisters because of our good grades. It was one of the best Strive for Pi Events I have been to yet.
I got the Chocolate Butterscotch Brownies which is obviously brownies that had butterscotch chips in them. The mini brownies were accompanied by candied walnuts and and Thyme ice cream... It was delicious. (Minus my allergic reaction to the walnuts, but I knew what I was getting myself into when I ordered it, and boy was it worth it.)
I can't wait to get back to the Candybar.
